The display now looks something like the one below. 32 32.22’N 133 41.853’W JUN 6’. The message shown in Figure 4-12 appears if the waypoint is currently selected as destination, is part of a route, or is in the route currently selected as destination. The sequence of waypoints leading to the ultimate destination is called a route. The GP-150 can automatically advance to the next waypoint on a route, so you do not have to change the destination waypoint repeatedly. Selected waypoint number appears on the route editing screen. The display shown in Figure 4-17 appears if the route is in use. 1st line Are you sure to erase ? ENT: Yes. Note: Previous destination is cancelled whenever a destination is set. Setting destination by cursor Using the cursor you may set a destination consisting of 30 points. Waypoints are connected with a line. The buzzer sounds and the message shown in Figure 5-8 appears to alert you when there is no MOB position or event position. Own ship position becomes starting point and a dashed line runs between it and the waypoint selected. Using Figure 5-14 as an example, your ship is currently heading toward waypoint 04 but is to switch course and head to waypoint 03. The message shown in Figure 5-17 appears if the waypoint is currently selected as destination, is part of a registered route, or is part of the route currently being navigated. However, cross track error is calculated by rhumb line only. Great Circle: The great circle courseline is the shortest course between two points on the surface of the earth. The range, bearing and time-to-go between two points appear on the display. Own ship tracks, at the speed selected, a figure eight course, starting from position entered. All controls are operative; you may change course, enter marks, etc.

It is fastened with four screws and held the display unit securely. Wiring for power and the transducer hooks to the back of the display unit with multi-pin twist-lock connectors. The GPS antenna connection attaches with a threaded connector. Screen Size and Viewability Screen resolution is by today?s standards low at 234 x 480. We found the 8-level brightness control range to be adequate when used in conjunction with the four selectable color palettes. In daylight conditions, the Furuno was easy to see, and we rated the screen excellent. It showed no screen darkening when the tester wore polarized sunglasses. We rated the screen good for nighttime viewability. Operation Most functions are manipulated through page-specific, multi-layered menus or soft keys that have a different feel than previous Furuno products we?ve tested. The Furuno GP7000 software has been changed significantly to mesh more closely with C-Map specific functions. C-Map and Furuno collaborated on the plotter software to ensure that the redraw rate of this Furuno GPS would take full advantage of the C-Map NT Max features, according to Furuno Communications Manager Jeff Kauzlaric. Our testing has shown that this collaboration resulted in the Furuno GP7000F having one of the fastest redraw rates in a standalone chartplotter fishfinder. It?s lightning quick, definitely one of the fastest we?ve ever tested. One of the reasons I went with Furuno was because of the support - local and dedicated support via a dealer network to get the unit working to my satisfaction - no matter what. My dealer is also a avid fisherman and he knew what I needed and is intent making it work for my needs. I did not experience this with mail-order Raymarine or Lowrance. Anyway, give it another chance and ask to speak to someone in second-line support or a manager. Bit if you are thinking of changing out to another brand let me know and I will unload that GP7000 from you!I e-mailed Furuno through their web site to ask a couple of questions, when I first got it and their reply was fast and addressed what I needed. They also stated to contact them any time with questions. I looked at several other brands in the same price range and I'll tell you first hand, Nothing has the quality of workmanship, fit, finish, material etc.I have a good relationship with the dealer as he did the full system install on our sailboat. He and I discussed the problems I'm having and concluded it's not an install problem. And since he hadn't even seen a GP7000 before we ordered mine, he suggested that I deal with Tech Service directly. I agree with the other posts about the Furuno reputation, and that was a major contributor in the decision to purchase this unit. That was why I was so floored the first couple times I called their tech service and was basically given the brush off. This guy did of taking care of me, although it took a couple of tries to get it right. If they don't work I'm going to pull the unit and take it to the dealer to take care of it. Guess that little Garmin handheld will have to continue putting my on the fish for a few more trips. -Kai Quite different and its a challenge. I eventually will install a second chartplotter and use the 7000 as the sounder. It's a real pain switching back and forth between sounder and plotter mode and the GOTO is a royal pain.

That said, I would choose the Garmin 3206 as the plotter of choice. Its much easier to use and seperates are really the way to go if you can. I was trying to save a few bucks when I made my choice but wish that I'd gone with seperate units now. The screen on the 7000 is excellent even in direct sunlight but so are the other new models from Garmin and Ray. HalDidn't like it at all. Ended up navigating with my Garmin handheld all day. It is a Furuno, but it doesn't have Knobs, so you jump thru menus. Buy yourself a good Garmin Chartplotter of your choice and a Furuno 620 or 585.Use of this site indicates your consent to the Terms of Use. OK.The leading edge must not be below the bottom of the transom. To determine if it is turbulence or radiated interference, put the boat in neutral and run motor up in RPM, if it fails then, with boat stationary, then proximity to motor is a problem and you should buy and in-hull ducer. The 1KW transom mount is in stock here, with the proper Furuno 10 pin connector. That is all you need, the display, the power cord, the GPS antenna, the transducer and THE BOOK. We are a Furuno dealer in the Great LakesWe using on the ship GPS Furuno GP-31, so my question is if our GPS will be affect by week number rollover and instructions to avoid any failure of equipment?

Typical of other Furuno sounders we?ve tested, this one has all the features one could hope for, including a pair of automatic gain settings, auto and manual depth ranging, shift, marker zoom, bottom lock, bottom discrimination, and full-color A-scope. It performed well. Odds and Ends Other notable features include three soft-key-selectable map orientation settings, an adjustable course predictor line, and a display-mode page with 14 selectable pages that includes 11 different split-screen formats. Compare Prices on GPS and Fish Finder Combos Here. The ability to display vital data like SOG, COG, and water depth in a large digital format for viewing from a distance is limited. Final Thoughts The GP7000F has good overall performance and a full two-year warranty, but is not network capable. Prices on this unit have been reduced recently. We thank you for your patience as we help you access the new site! The older unit I have only has chips up to 2001. I have passed several channel markers that were not dsiplayed on my screen. Anyway, its an 8 year old peice of electronics and in need of updating. I looked at and liked the GP7000F. I know that most of these units do 10X more stuff than I'll ever use or need. Any GP7000F owners out there. Is it a user friendly unit that doesnt require an engineering degree to operate. Input appreciated.I like the fish finder. If I had it to do over I would purchase a unit that is compatible to the XM satellite weather (garmin makes a couple models). Also having condensation in my screen. Need to address this with my vendor. Not sure if it is a common problem. -Mike.One of my priorities when I was shopping around was visibility in the direct sunlight, this thing is awsome, on the brightest of days I can see it quite clearly.Sent it back to furuno and they fixed it. Not problems since. On the screen should be only a mark for the waypoint you are trying to locate, a mark for your position, and a North compass arrow.

This would make it easier to find small rock piles and such when you're offshore. Most I have talked to say it's not quite as good as they were expecting. Some of the features, like the SST, wave height, and others are basically worthless. The radar seems to be ok though which is the only reason I would consider it. And for your condensation issue, mine does the same thing on occasion. If you store the unit in the open air though with the cover off, your problem should go away. If it is fixed mounted I don't know what to tell you. I know that many brands have the same problem though.I'll definitely do the research before I purchase the XM equipment. Also, here is another thread It is great for navigating the waterways. Please let me know if I have any of these wrong as it is fairly new to me.I have been trying, on and off, to get my GP7000 sorted out since I purchased it last October. Long story short, they shipped me a unit that hadn't been updated, and wouldn't recognize the C-Map Max chart cards I had purchased. Finally got the unit to accept the Max charts. Skip forward to July- I finally gave up trying to find a way to transfer my waypoint list without having to retype them, and broke down and purchased the PC Planner. Calls to C-Map and Furuno Tech support lines yesterday were not met with much in the way of help - retry what I did Sunday, only copy the waypoint list onto the C-Map chart card instead of a separate card, make sure you have a description entered for each of your 300 points, or they won't save.In the meantime, I've been using my handheld for finding my fishing spots.Based on the experience I've had with this unit, and in particular the total lack of help from the Furuno tech support, I will likely never buy another Furuno unit. I was told by my dealer that they will help you even if they did not install it just for good measure.however, I do not know if it would be free. But Furuno might reimburse some costs to get it right.

Previously I could cruise at around 22 knots getting a clear bottom picture by adjusting gain etc as required. Now, it will work fine for a while and then suddenly I will get a screen full of data. The bottom depth can then also alternate to very shallow as if over plankton etc at 5 or 6 m or else bottomless with depth as great as 200-400 m. Slowing down sometimes brings back the real picture but not in most cases. The boat has been serviced during these 4 months but I am not aware of any adjustments having been made to the transducer angle (and it does not move easily). Once the picture becomes defective, no amount of adjustment (e.g. gain to -5) or display setting changes restores the picture. I have also tried sacrificing detail and preventing the issue by starting with the gain at -5 but the issue still occurs. It was operating fine after the upgrade. Check all wires and connections from transducer to your head unit, take them off, give them a cleanup and see if that fixes it.(might just be a bad connection) Seems strange for it to play up when you havent been using it. The transducer may still be taped over if the boat was antifouled. I would check the transducer to ensure that it is clean and not coated. My Furuno GP7000F with a 1kw transducer works fine at all speeds. Don - no paint or anything coated during this time. Doesn't necessarily come right when slowing down. I haven't tried running auto. Could try that too. RM, it has worked fine since 2009. The transducer and unit haven't been moved in this period. Possible that transducer angle has been changed but it could not have happened accidentally and I doubt it would have been touched during service.

I did find that by powering off and re-starting, it would go back to giving a correct signal so I never slowed to a complete stop - so that became my default behaviour for the day. I found the transducer mounting was cracked and vibrating at speed. I re-fitted the transducer and have eliminated part of the issue. I now get a clear picture but I am unable to remove clutter on zoom at speed (zoom usually on bottom lock). An example of the noise is in the image below. There is no issue at low speed. Is there a specific setting I should adjust. I have also tried the full range of each of noise, clutter and sensitivity settings. As previously posted, this device has been very reliable in the 3 previous years. I am sure it defaults to that on the zoom. How would I change that? If you want anything specific I can take a walk outside and fire it up.
